Summary

This grant opportunity offers quarterly funding to support artistic expression, creative engagement, and cultural enrichment throughout a U.S. northern state. It’s designed to reach both individual creators and local organizations, ensuring that artists and cultural groups in small towns and remote regions have access to creative funding opportunities.

Eligible applicants include nonprofit groups, schools, tribes, government agencies, and fiscally sponsored arts projects based in the state, along with professional artists aged 18 and older who are state residents. The program excludes full-time students during the grant period. Both organizational and individual proposals are welcomed, welcoming a range of projects from performances and exhibits to workshops, multimedia storytelling, and community arts initiatives.

Organizational applicants can receive a portion of their direct cash expenses—typically about half—for projects that bring arts experiences to communities, such as festivals, public installations, arts education programs, or artist residencies. Individual artists can receive smaller awards to support project development, art production, professional growth, or creative collaborations. Both streams are intended to strengthen community connections, elevate local voices, and enrich public access to cultural work.

Grant rounds open four times a year, aligned with seasonal project planning, with spring, summer, fall, and winter deadlines. Successful applicants receive funding within that project window, allowing them to begin planning and implementation promptly. The flexibility of quarterly rounds ensures that creative initiatives can align with community calendars and seasonal themes.

This opportunity is ideal for statewide arts engagement, whether you're an individual artist launching a new work or an organization offering workshops, performances, or cultural experiences. It supports a wide variety of artistic disciplines—visual arts, performance, traditional crafts, media, literary arts, arts administration, and more. By supporting creative activity across the state, especially in underserved areas, the program aims to foster a more vibrant and inclusive cultural landscape.
